Led by seasoned instructors from the prestigious Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, the RNA camps offer a unique training experience crafted through years of expertise on the ATP circuit by Rafa Nadal and his dedicated team.

Participants can anticipate a comprehensive program customized for both young aspiring players and adults, seamlessly integrating rigorous tennis sessions with a significant focus on holistic personal development.

Beyond just honing tennis skills, attendees will engage in specialized workshops addressing key aspects such as competitive mindset, sports nutrition, and performance management.

This immersive experience not only promises to elevate on-court performance but also to foster skills that transcend the sport, empowering participants to reach their full potential both on and off the tennis court.

The annual program of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar has an excellent team of coaches with extensive professional and training experience. The leadership of each of the different areas corresponds to the Head Coaches, responsible for coordinating, directing and training the young players who come to train in Manacor. Who are each of the Head Coaches?

Marc Gorriz

After a long career on the ATP circuit (on which he reached ATP position 88 in singles and 73 in doubles), Marc debuted as a trainer in 1999 with Roberto Carretero. For over 15 years he worked with important names such as Sergi Bruguera, Albert Portas, Alberto Martín and Robin Haase. At the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar he performs an essential role, managing trainers, coordinating daily sessions on court and supervising the activity of the different groups of players.

Anabel Medina

Valencian tennis player and current captain of the Spanish Billie Jean King Cup team, Anabel Medina Garrigues, is responsible for women's tennis at the academy. During her long career as a tennis player, Anabel (former world number 16), won 11 WTA titles and reached another seven finals. In addition, she was world number 3 in doubles, a category in which she won 28 titles. Her achievements include two Roland Garros titles in doubles and the silver medal won with Vivi Ruano at the Beijing Olympics. After her retirement as a professional player, Anabel took on the challenge of coaching Jelena Ostapenko, Latvian player with whom she conquered Roland Garros in 2017 and with whom she reached seventh place in the world ranking. She later took on the challenge of being Spanish captain of the Billie Jean King Cup, a position she has held since 2017. During this time Anabel has placed Spain in third place in the world ranking thanks to the 12 victories achieved in her 16 qualifiers as captain. She has managed to qualify Spain to the last 4 finals of the Billie Jean King Cup.

Joan Bosch

After working at different clubs in Menorca and Mallorca, Joan Bosch began working at the l´Escola Balear de l´Esport technical training centre, where he met Toni Nadal and Rafa Nadal. After this stage, he worked for 7 years with former world number one Carlos Moya, with whom he achieved some of the most important results of his career, including more than a dozen ATP titles and the Davis Cup in 2004.. After the following period as director of the Sports Technical Training Programme of the Government of the Balearic Islands, he joined the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar as Head Coach, leading groups of different promising tennis players.

Gustavo Marcaccio

After his professional retirement, Marcaccio has acquired a great experience as a coach thanks to the successes achieved with Guido Pella, Paula Ormaechea, Maximo Gonzalez or Giovanni Lapenti. Although the greatest notoriety as a coach was acquired in the stage in which he worked with Juan Monaco, whom he helped to win 4 ATP titles and reach the Top 10 of the world ranking. In addition, Marcaccio has worked with the Argentine national team playing the role of

Deputy Captain of the Davis Cup team. In addition to coordinating different groups of players at the Academy, one of Gustavo Marcaccio's main roles in his early days at the Academy was to join the team in charge of Jaume Munar's sporting career, working hand in hand with Tomeu Salvà. He later worked with Martín Landaluce's team and is currently part of Rafa Nadal's team.

Pedro Clar

After his time as a player, in which he won 11 ITF titles and played the 4 Grand Slams, Pedro was Technical Director of the Balearic Islands Tennis Technification Center. After joining the Rafa Nadal Academy he was part of the technical team of Jaume Munar, who broke into the Top 100 and reached his best ranking (52nd in the world) thanks to the titles harvested in the Challenger circuit. In 2019 he joined the technical team of Casper Ruud, who in this stage has become number 2 in the world ranking after conquering 10 titles on the ATP circuit and reaching two finals of Roland Garros (2022 and 2023) and US Open (2022). He has also reached the semifinals of the ATP Finals and won the Laver Cup with the European team.

Tomeu Salvá

During his successful period as a Junior player, Tomeu was proclaimed European Cadet and Junior Champion as well as World Junior Team Champion and Junior Davis Cup Champion teaming up with Rafa Nadal and Marcel Granollers. In the professional circuit Tomeu reached the doubles final in the ATP tournament in Chennai as well as in the Conde de Godo. In his facet as a trainer, Tomeu has coached Cristian Garin (2017 and 2018) and Jaume Munar (2018 - 2022), with whom he conquered 8 ATP Challenger Tour titles, reached the final of the ATP tournament in Marbella and reached number 52 in the world. In that stage Jaume achieved 3 victories against Top-10 players and won matches in all 4 Grand Slams. As part of his work at the Rafa Nadal Academy, Tomeu was also part of the Casper Ruud 2019 staff and also of Rafa Nadal himself in 2018 and 2019.

In recent weeks, a number of players from the pro tour have been preparing for the 2024 season at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar. Many of them had the chance to practise with Rafa Nadal himself, who will be back in action soon at the ATP 250 event in Brisbane.

Frenchman Richard Gasquet, a former world No. 7 and winner of 16 ATP Tour titles, was one of the big names to visit Manacor, where he enjoyed some intense training as he prepared for a very special season. Germany’s Jan Lennard-Struff also graced the academy with his powerful tennis in the same week that the ATP named him 2023’s Comeback Player of the Year after a period plagued by injuries. Last season he climbed from 163 to 21 in the world thanks to a great year in which he reached the finals of the Mutua Madrid Open and Stuttgart.

Emil Ruusuvuori is now a regular at the academy during the preseason. The complex has a special place in his heart after he won the “Rafa Nadal Open by Movistar” Challenger event in Manacor in 2018. Since then, the current world number 69 has always fine-tuned his game for a new season at the academy. Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar alumnus Jaume Munar is back ‘home’ after some late-season injuries as he attempts to find his A-game.

Two of Spain’s young guns have also been alongside some of the best players on the planet in recent weeks. Dani Rincón, who rose from No. 420 to 181 in the ATP rankings in 2023, is getting ready for his assault on the Australian Open qualifiers after picking up 2 ITF titles and reaching five Challenger semi-finals this year. Martín Landaluce, who trained with Rafa Nadal today, is also looking to earn himself a place among the elite in 2024.

Young Jordanian star Abdullah Shelbayh, who recently competed in the Next Gen ATP Finals, has also put in a few weeks’ intense training in a year in which he has progressed from number 470 to 187 in the world ranking. Another player polishing his game in Manacor was Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong, who reached his first Challenger Tour finals and won two ITF titles this year.

Junior world number 1 Alina Korneeva has been training at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar all month. At just 16 years of age, she smashed several records in 2023, as well as winning the Junior Australian Open and reaching the semi-finals of Junior Wimbledon. Yaroslav Demin, who was boys’ world number 1 in 2023, reached the Wimbledon final and claimed the French Open doubles title.

All of them have embraced Rafa’s inspirational spirit in recent weeks with an intense preseason they hope will bear fruit in 2024.

Martín Landaluce continues to consolidate himself as one of the great promises for the future of Spanish tennis, steadily progressing on tour in search of professional maturity. At 17 years of age, last week the Madrid native became the first tennis player born in 2006 to break into the Top 500 in the ATP Rankings, a significant milestone.

After competing at the Copa Faulcombridge in Valencia, where he defeated Pablo Andújar in the final match of the Cuenca native’s career, Monday’s list puts him at No. 443 in the world, currently higher than any other player in his generation.

The Spaniard, who trains at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar and became the junior world No. 1 in February this year, has made solid strides towards professionalism in 2023. With some solid improvement under the watchful eyes of Óscar Burrieza, Gustavo Marcaccio, and Esteban Carril, the Spaniard continues to fine tune his game as he reaches the end of adolescence.

The achievement is the result of a season that has seen him make his first professional appearances on tour, where he has shown off his innate talent against some of the biggest names in the locker room. As he battles to take down his next opponent, Landaluce has managed to produce a positive balance on the ITF World Tennis Tour (20-14) and won six of the 16 matches he played on the ATP Challenger Tour, the highlights of which were reaching the quarter-finals in Alicante and Valencia.

Above all, the season provided him with an opportunity to dream. The Spaniard enjoyed one of the most special moments of his career so far at the Mutua Madrid Open, where he had the chance to compete in an ATP Masters 1000 event for the first time. A wildcard for the main draw in his native city gave him a match against French former Top-10 player Richard Gasquet.

After making his ATP Tour debut in the main draw in Gijon last season, the 2022 Junior US Open champion enjoyed several other significant moments this year, adding to his dream in the Caja Mágica with the experiences in the qualifiers at the ATP 500 in Barcelona and the main draw at the ATP 250 in Umag.

With his sights firmly set on further establishing himself in 2024, Landaluce continues to notch up the small victories as he moves ever closer to the ATP Tour.
