After five editions delighting the thousands of fans who have faithfully flocked to the stands of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, on September 1st we will crown the sixth champion of one of the most highly regarded events on the ATP Challenger Tour. 2018: Bernard Tomic.
The Australian player was crowned champion of the first edition of the Rafa Nadal Open by Movistar after defeating Matthias Bachinger in the final with a great comeback and a tight final result of 4-6, 6-3, 7-6. On the way to his third title on the Challenger circuit, he got rid of Mario Vilella, Pedro Cachín, Norbert Gombos, Kenny De Schepper and the aforementioned Bachinger.
2019: Emil Ruusuvuori
The trophy of the second edition of the Rafa Nadal Open headed to Finland. Emiil Russuvuori was a real iceberg and got rid of Matteo Viola by a resounding 6-0, 6-1. This edition will also be remembered for the participation, among other great stars, of Andy Murray and a very young Carlos Alcaraz.
2021: Lucas Lacko
A forced break due to health reasons made the third edition of the tournament even more exciting. The experienced Slovak player Lucas Lacko won the last Challenger in his long career in Manacor. The Slovakian defeated Yasutaka Uchiyama in a tight final by a score of 5-7, 7-6, 6-1.
2022: Luca Nardi
Luca Nardi capped a spectacular 2022 by winning his third Challenger title of the season in Mallorca. He beat Zizou Bergs in the battle for the fourth edition of the Rafa Nadal Open by Movistar and won the final duel 7-6(2), 3-6, 7-5.
2023: Hamad Medjedovic
Medjedovic is the reigning champion in Manacor. The Serbian achieved a great victory at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, beating Harold Mayot 6–2, 4–6, 6–2 in the final. Months later he would be crowned champion of the ATP Next Gen Finals 2024.
