At just 15 years old, Filipino player Alex Eala has won her first professional title in Manacor after beating Mallorcan Yvone Cavallé 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 in the final of the “ITF by LG” tournament . The young tennis player trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar overcame her veteran rival by coming back from behind and preventing Cavalle (28 years old) from winning her seventh ITF title.

After reaching the second place in the world junior rankings in 2020, Alexandra Eala reached her first ITF final this week after having defeated during the tournament the Italian Ana Paradisi , the number 1 seed Seone Mendez , the fifth favorite Carole Monnet and in the semifinals the Hong Kong player Adithya Karunaratine .

After winning the Australian Open Junior doubles and reaching the semifinals of the Roland Garros Juniors , Eala has achieved the most important title of her career just months after turning professional. Under the watchful eye of Gabriel Urpy, former coach of Arantxa Sánchez-Vicario and Conchita Martínez and currently responsible for teaching women’s tennis at the Academy, and Matilde Muñoz (who follows Eala’s daily work at the Academy), Alex has performed at a remarkable level throughout the week, beating higher-ranked and more experienced opponents.

The captain of the Spanish Federation Cup team, Anabel Medina , who has been present all week following the progress of the Spanish players, was in charge of presenting the trophies to the champion and the finalist.

In the coming weeks, both Eala and Cavalle will have another opportunity to reach new finals in Manacor, as the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar will host two more international ITF tournaments.
